On May 28th, the Bombers held a seven-game lead in the AL East. Now, as they take on the Mets on July 4th, they find themselves in second place, having surrendered their lead and sit a game back of the Toronto Blue Jays.

It seemed at various points throughout the season that the Yankees would dominate the American League East. But after a 6-14 stretch and a four-game sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays this week, they're now a game back of Toronto in the standings.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone had a stern message for his team after they were swept by the Blue Jays to fall out of first place.
