Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions

Sam LaPorta fantasy football outlook for 2025 projects him as a top-tier TE in Detroit's high-powered offense. Where does he rank in PPR formats?
Outlook: LaPorta would probably be a real threat to go back to 120-target seasons if Williams or Amon-Ra St. Brown got hurt, but absent that it’s hard to imagine what LaPorta can do on his own to be better than a mid-range TE1. The offense doesn’t seem to be breaking in his direction and the team has too many reasons to feed Williams and St. Brown.
While the tight end position might be seeing some changing of the guard dynamics at the top ahead of the 2025 NFL season, there isn't a lot of star power and name recognition at the position.
The Detroit Lions will be without their top tight end for the final joint practice against the Miami Dolphins. Lions coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that Sam LaPorta is dealing with a minor injury and will be out for some time. It is not expected to be a long-term injury, but he could miss multiple days.
