Years ago, a young Martone got a picture with Simmonds after a practice in Voorhees. On Wednesday, they were both on the ice together for the start of Flyers development camp.

"I want to give it my all and try to earn my spot in the opening-night roster, and if I do, that’s a dream come true to play with the Flyers organization," Martone said Wednesday.

Porter Martone, who will be aiming for the Flyers’ roster in the fall, was able to relive a memory with Wayne Simmonds.

Simmonds, 35, played with the Flyers from 2011-12 until he was traded toward the end of the 2018-19 season. In 584 games, he recorded 203 goals and 175 assists for 378 points.
