Lakers to play Spurs in NBA Cup quarterfinals
After clinching their group on Tuesday with a win over the Clippers and finishing unbeaten in group play on Friday against the Mavs, the Lakers will host their quarterfinal matchup against the Spurs.
The Los Angeles Lakers are rolling, riding a six-game winning streak after defeating the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, 129–119. Los Angeles is finally at full strength, with superstar LeBron James back in the starting lineup after missing the start of the season due to sciatica.
The win earned Los Angeles the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference side of the NBA Cup bracket. Oklahoma City took the No. 1 seed and will host the Phoenix Suns in the quarterfinals. The Lakers will host the San Antonio Spurs. Both games will take place on Dec. 10.

Lakers update status of Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart for Friday's game
Anthony Davis of the Mavericks will return after missing the last 14 games with a calf strain. For the Lakers, center Deandre Ayton was listed as probable after missing the second half of Sunday's game and all of Tuesday's contest with a knee contusion. He has been upgraded to available.
