There was a large police presence at UMass Boston Thursday afternoon after a report of shots being fired on campus.
The University alerted students to the incident at East Residence Hall on social media shortly before 4:00 p.m.
UMass Boston issued alerts calling it a "public safety threat" and urged people to avoid the area and the Campus Center.
