The Texas Rangers saw the spring training debuts of Wyatt Langford and Jacob deGrom on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals in Surprise, Ariz.

Veteran catcher Kyle Higashioka, who caught deGrom’s two perfect innings of work on Saturday, had more effusive praise. In his first outing of the spring, deGrom struck out three against Kansas City in two innings, needing just 31 pitches (21 strikes) to complete his work.

It took an extra day after a rainout but Jacob deGrom made his 2025 spring debut on March 8 against the Royals. deGrom threw 31 pitches in his first start, hitting the upper-90s with his fastball as the Rangers’ ace looks for a healthy year for the first time since the shortened 2020 season.
