CSU’s loss to Hawaii on Saturday was the last straw for the tenure of Jay Norvell, who was fired a day after the game.

CSU announced Sunday the immediate departure of Jay Norvell, with defensive coordinator Tyson Summers stepping in as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

CSU has fired Jay Norvell with five games left in the 2025 season and defensive coordinator Tyson Summers will serve as interim coach. CSU's news release around the firing said the school will "immediately launch a nationwide search" for Norvell's replacement.
