The fatal shooting of a U.S. border patrol agent in Vermont and a murder in Northern California appear to be related.

Both suspects attended the prestigious Lakeside School in Seattle, studied computer science and appear to sympathize with a fringe Bay Area group described by one person as a “murder gang.”

Prosecutors say a Washington state woman charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a U.S. border patrol agent had been in frequent contact with someone whom authorities have linked to homicides in Pennsylvania.

Investigators said the guns allegedly used in the killing of a Border Patrol agent in Vermont were purchased in that state.

New York and Vermont recently passed laws like these, which require energy companies to pay climate damages and will likely face fierce challenges.
