Kelly's return to the NFL comes one week after Ohio State lost defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who was lured away by Penn State head coach James Franklin. The Nittany Lions made Knowles the highest-paid defensive coordinator in all of college football, with an average annual salary of $3.1 million.

In perhaps the biggest offseason move so far, Penn State hired away Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to make him the highest-paid coordinator in college football history. Dallas finished 27th in the NFL in total rushing yards, which Adams will be tasked with improving.

Frye has been coaching Ohio State’s offensive line since 2022. His previous stops included stints at UCLA, Boston College, Temple, Florida and Indiana. Though his recruiting has been criticized, Frye did an impressive job in Ohio State’s run to a national title during the 2024-25 season.
