Wrestlers going out on their backs is tradition. Everyone knew it was coming. No doubt The GOAT requested it. Gunther delivered. But the storytelling to get to that point was flimsy. The "Never Give Up" guy finally giving up could be considered poetic, but there was no harm with a simple three-count, either.

The evening turned into a celebration of WWE history as several of Cena’s iconic rivals, including Kurt Angle, Mark Henry, and Rob Van Dam, were seated at ringside. WWE Hall of Famers Michelle McCool and Trish Stratus were also present, adding to the emotional weight of the night.

Wrestling legends The Undertaker, Triple H and current WWE champion Cody Rhodes posted heartwarming tributes, words of encouragement and thanks for wrestling icon John Cena ahead of his final professional wrestling match against Gunther on early Sunday morning.

Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, Gunther detailed losing approximately 60 pounds around the time he was called up to the WWE main roster. Gunther said he’s since gained a little bit of that back and now feels like he’s found where he’s supposed to be with his weight.
