Shalla-Bal, the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: First Steps, became one after being transformed by Franklin Richards in the alternate universe Earth X, joining Norrin as Galactus’ Herald.

Originally, a young astronomer called Norrin Radd was known as the Silver Surfer. Introduced in 1966s Fantastic Four #48, Radd saved his planet Zenn-La from being devoured by Galactus.
