A new wildfire was reported today at 2:57 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

A flash-flood watch went into effect at 10 a.m. Sunday that includes fire-scarred areas of Souther California, with forecasters boosting their predictions for rainfall that carry the risk of significant flash flooding.

The Hughes Fire burned some 10,176 acres but that figure held steady throughout the day as 4,000 firefighters dropped water and retardant from the air and used hand tools and hoses on the ground.
