#Milton rapidly intensifies into a category 5 hurricane. Data from a hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to 160 mph (250 km/h) with higher gusts as of the 10:55 am CDT Monday update. We have observed rapid intensification this morning and expect the strength to fluctuate as it moves toward Florida between now and Wednesday. The bottom line is we expect Milton to be a large and powerful hurricane at landfall in Florida, with life-threatening hazards
