🏥 An 1885 Michigan asylum now hosts shops and homes. The Traverse City State Hospital opened Nov. 30, 1885 as a sprawling Victorian-era mental asylum. A century later, in 1989, the hospital closed, and the empty complex could’ve decayed – but instead it was saved.
