Eastern River cooter chillin under ICE! 🥶🧊 Native freshwater turtles are well adapted to periods of freezing temperatures and navigating a life under a sheet of ice. They know how to strategically place themselves where direct sun hits the ice, where oxygen builds up, and areas with a dense bottom layer of leaves and detritus for insulation.
