Testing 1-year old dehydrated food. We store our dehydrated food in regular ziplock bags, whether in a shipping box waiting for us on a long trail or in a cabinet waiting for our next trip. We’ve found that dehydrated veggies can be sharp and puncture bags under the pressure of a vacuum seal, leading to shorter shelf life than the easy ziplock approach. Since ziplock bags aren’t 100% air tight, it’s important that food is completely dry before being stored, but as long as it is — storage is easy

When I started preserving and storing food I honestly thought the only way was to pressure can or water bath. Turns out there are more ways!•You can store dehydrated or dried foods in Mylar bags, mason jars, or food grade buckets for long term storage- long term is considered as 3 months or longer so don’t be fooled thinking food as to sit on your shelf for years to be considered “long term”. If you are storing dried goods, be sure to use oxygen absorbers to keep your food fresh and prevent mold
