It’s time for another Wood County ghost town #TBT! This week, we paid a visit to Fenton aka Devil’s Hole Prairie. The town was named after John Fenton, their first postmaster. The area was lightly populated in the 1840s with some mills and a one room school house. The post office was opened in 1866, closing briefly in October of 1876. Once it reopened, it remained until 1901. After it closed for the second time, mail was sent to Luckey. The fact that railroads did not pass through Fenton greatly
